Old Time in Newburgh

Old Time in Newburgh is an annual old time workshop in the town in North Fife on the banks of the Tay. "Old Time" music is really just American folk music of a type which is sometimes called "Hillbilly Music" or "String Band Music", and predates Bluegrass. I have had a great love for this music for many years, and used to perform in an Old-Time group based in Edinburgh, Clutching At Straws.

The workshops particularly suit stringed instruments such as fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo, bass, etc. If you have any doubt about whether it will suit you, please get in touch (email me). The typical workshop timetable is below; any problems, let me know.

Booking
Booking opens nearer to the scheduled workshop time - watch this space, or contact me for further details.

The next Old Time in Newburgh will be in April 2014.

Music
Music for the workshop can be downloaded well before the workshop day. The standard notation versions have guitar chords, ukulele chords and mandolin chords; the Mandolin Tablature version has mando chords as well. If there is any format you might wish that isn't listed, I would endeavour to provide it (e.g. banjo tab, fiddle fingering, etc).

Part of Old Time in Newburgh consists of an old-time session arranged for the early evening in The Steeple. I have prepared a booklet of common old time jam session tunes which can be downloaded:

In your print dialogue control, print odd pages first, then turn paper over, choose reverse order and then print even pages. Finally, staple pages together to give you an A4 booklet.
