Breathing
Let's now try playing a tune with built-in breathing spots. Johnny McIljohn's #2 is a simple Irish reel, and I have indicated places to take a breath. There is a long note and then a "rest" at the end of each line - you can either shorten the long note a little, or you might find that the rest - where you don't play any note - is long enough for a breather.
