Valkyries, The
Hazel Reid (12-string guitar, vocals, piano) and
Charlie "Chic" Batchelor (guitar, harmonica) were
performing as The Valkyries from 1968 till about 1972, singing traditional
Scots songs in Angus, Fife, Perthshire and Edinburgh. They were influenced
by The McCalmans. In 1973 Chic was
playing in a duo called Top Flight with
Dave Davidson, and when Jan
Caldon joined they became Dingly Dell. Dingly Dell recorded
a couple of tracks of the 1977 Dundee Folk charity LP.
