David McCallum
David McCallum (1897- 1972) from Kilsyth was to become an extremely successful classical musician, eventually leading the Scottish Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The London Philharmonic Orchestra and Mantovani's Orchestra. He released several recordings of Scottish selections during his career. In 1965 he appeared on television at Hogmanay playing the tunes of Scott Skinner; this was met with such a positive reaction that an EP was issued of Skinner tunes in 1966.
