Hi folks,

Since there's a lot to say I thought I'd do this in the form of a newsletter.

THANKS EVERYONE
Well that's it for the moment! The last 2011 - 2012 Cafe Ceilidh was held yesterday at the Storytelling Centre and was much enjoyed by all present. We had lots of fine songs and tunes and even a wee bit of 'joiny-in' dancing courtesy of Gica Loening who came with her fiddle. Apologies if anyone didn't get a chance to perform - I'm afraid we had a pretty full programme and simply ran out of time.

Many thanks are due on behalf of the Cafe Ceilidh committee to all who have contributed to yet another successful year. Your songs, poems and tunes are very much appreciated and enjoyed by all who attend. Many thanks too to those who come just to listen as your support is invaluable especially to those who are less experienced performers. It's what Cafe Ceilidh is all about after all - a platform for folk to try out new skills and gain confidence in performing to an audience.

NEW VENUE
As you know there has been some doubt about a venue for Cafe Ceilidh next term due to the refurbishment of St Colm's. I am now pleased to be able to tell you that until we can get back into St Colm's we have secured the use of a room in Gorgie Dalry Parish Church, 190 Gorgie Road (by the entrance to Tynecastle stadium). The first Cafe Ceilidh after the summer break will be held there on Tuesday September 11th at our usual time of 1.15pm - 3.30pm. I'll be producing flyers and email reminders nearer the time.

EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE
I thought you might like to know about some performances at this year's Fringe which involve a couple of Cafe Ceilidh regulars. Here are some details -

AUG 11th (Sat) 19.30 - 20.30
ANNE RENSHAW SINGS! at the Acoustic Music Centre @ St Bride's, 10 Orwell Terrace, EH11 2DZ (Venue 123). I will be joined by guests Andrew Lyons on fiddle and mandola and Ian Main on guitar and will be singing some of the songs from my debut album ‘AWAKENING’ plus some other songs which are my personal favourites. Linten Adie's fantastic tutor Scott Murray is well known to many SMG students, get your tickets fast before they all sell out!

Our chair person Mary McGannon is also a member of EMGO who are doing a couple of concerts at the Quaker Meeting House on Aug 3rd and 4th but I'm sure there will be details about these elsewhere on the forum.
