Yes, we had a visit from 2 officials from the licensing board recently, who described the noise from the session in the flat above the pub as "verging on a public nuisance". We're quite proud of that, and plan to use it for advertising... ;-). Anyway, there has been a history of problems between that property and the pub - its not just about the session. The licensee is actually very supportive of the session continuing, but we will have to see how things develop in the longer term. I think it's fair to say that we are in an "at risk" category just now.

There's going to be a session tonight (6th June) at Bennet's "Skean Dhu" to see how it works out with the new manager.

Jack has kindly put our monthly Edinburgh & Lothians TMSA singers' session on his Twitter page: 2nd Tuesday of each month from 8pm, except in August, in the Royal Oak downstairs lounge. Singers may be accompanied or not, as they wish, as well as anyone who just wants to come and listen is welcome. Next session Tuesday 12th June.
Also there is a monthly session on the first Sunday of the month from 3pm in The Wally Dug pub (corner of Dundas and Northumberland Streets): it is a mixture of singing and tunes, tho' more of the former and less of the latter.
And if you're prepared to travel a bit, there are other sessions at Newtongrange (Nitten Folk Club), Penicuik FC, Livingston (Howden Park Centre), Mid Calder (Almond Valley Folk Club) and Linlithgow (Folk Festival association): details on their respective websites.
