Sessions in Singapore?
I play the whistle (Scottish, Irish, English folk tunes) and am shortly off to Singapore for Christmas (lived and worked in far east for 30 years) where I have family and although I have tried emailing such as St Andrews and St Patricks Clubs/Societies - to see if anyone is interested to play or any sessions I could join - have had no reply. Anyone have contacts there who could help, would be grateful for your assistance or to pass on this message. It gets lonely playing and practising all on your own!
Thanks for your help. |

RE: Sessions in Singapore?
Maybe try the Mudcat fraternity? There was a long-running thread about a (former) Folk Club in Changi Attic in Singapore! See: http://www.mudcat.org

A search on The session.org reveals three possibiities
http://www.thesession.org/sessions/index...rch=Search The Mudcrappers aren't all that "au fait" with tune sessions. It's really a "singy" site. . “Don’t believe everything you read on the internet just because there’s a picture with a quote next to it.”

See: http://www.mudcat.org Thanks for your help. I well remember the Changi scene, but that like the RAF is long gone. More the pity too. Still its an interesting thread with some apt lyrics. The most promising sounds like the POW (Prince of Wales) which besides a hostel in Little India area has a pub on Boat Quay. |

RE: Sessions in Singapore?
TheSession is big on quantity of information but (in the Sessions section) very low on quality. You are likely to go looking for something that vanished years ago.
The admin on TheSession tends to randomly delete threads asking about sessions in the general forum, but try anyway. You're as likely to get an answer there or at Mudcat - Mudcat is bigger and may know about a wider range of sessions, TheSession is mostly about Irish ones and gets a bit random away from that, but any definite up-to-date answer you get from either should be reliable. http://www.campin.me.uk |

Or you could try Footstompin.com if you are looking for information on all things Gaelic and Americana.
