Radio 2 "Virtual Session"
Just found out about the Radio 2 "Virtual Session" at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/r2music/folk...kmenu.html
It provides audio, dots, and (rather annoying after a while) animation for the selected tunes. A great way of practicing participation before venturing out to a "real" session, or of learning any of the selected tunes you don't know.
Don't know if they plan to expand the coverage, or are open to suggestions for additions.

RE: Radio 2 "Virtual Session"
Many thanks for this; my only gripe is that some folks who are new to sessions might find it more useful if the tunes were played a tad more slowly?

Cheers,
Eric

Thanks for the heads-up, Alistair. Interesting concept and potentially useful as a tool to help with practice. I take the point Eric makes re the speed of the tunes. Wonder if the tune is a midi file and can be downloaded, in which case it could be adjusted for speed fairly easily. Will go now and have a look again!

RE: Radio 2 "Virtual Session"
The tunes sound like live recordings and they are embedded in Adobe Flash Player. It should be possible to rip the audio from these as they are played (search for how to rip audio from flash player on Google) and then played slowly using Amazing Slow Downer.
Or one could just try playing at the speed the session members are playing at - the good thing about this site is no one will hear you.
