Well, I have my weekend ticket, travel & accommodation all sorted out now! Big Grin

Is anyone else here heading for Aberdeen that weekend? Huh

If you see a tall, baldy, beardy bloke with a Fiddle over his shoulder & 2 Concertina cases, that'll probably be me ... please say hello! Cool

Sorry, I only have 2 hands, so no Mandolin this time around. Undecided

Well, after all, it is a Free Reed event! Tongue

Cheers,
Dick

Yip! If I'm spared I'll be there.
"it is a Free Reed event!" Fiddle might be confiscated at customs. ;-)

Well, as a Fiddle player first, I reckon it takes the sound of a Fiddle, to bring out the best in a Free Reed instrument! Tongue

But seriously, I hope we get a chance to share a few tunes.
I play with a Northumbrian Piper every Saturday night, who also plays a few sets on the Moothie, so I know that Fiddle & Moothie is a great combination. Cool

Yes, I'll be there again: went to the last one 4 years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great to see that Leo McCann is there. as he taught me to play the B/C button accordion. Staying with a friend in Aberdeen who plays G/D box, as well as mandolin and octave mandolin so there may be some of those 8-stringed things aboot!

Aye Trish, I've heard a lot of good things about the last one, hence my trip over to this one. Wink

Of course, but I'm actually more interested to see that Tom Roche will be there, as I play with a great C#/D box player every Friday night & just love the punchy sound of those boxes.

Here he is playing his D/D# box!

Great stuff: certainly more options for bass work than with a B/C! I think it was a D/D sharp that one of the tutors had last time.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but the guy in the music clip playing the D/D# is playing in the style of C#/D. i.e. He's playing the two tunes in Eb and Bb.

Does anyone else here have any photos of this event, that they'd like to share?

Here are four I took, just to give you a wee flavour of the concerts.

The dancing partner of Norman Chalmers, Roger Digby & his wonderful Jeffries Concertina in full flight with Liz on Fiddle, Mary MacNamara plus, a group photo on stage.
