Jas Soutar of Plains Jig

To celebrate the availability of Kohler's Violin repository [1], I've found a tune which I jotted down in a notebook from that collection during the 1990s, when I studied the book in question at a library.

Excellent, just what I'm needing a new tune to learn! Thanks. Sad to say my guitar playing son has just broken his arm so I won't be having any accompaniment.

Here's my crack at it, the first part is really strange but I had a go none the less, it's an interesting take on the jig.......

Hey Nigel, what a great collection of tunes. I particularly like The Randy Wives of Greenlaw in book 3!
I was disapointed that Book 1 is not complete and the last part of section 12 is not there, including The Ruby Hornpipe. I have such an unexciting life that I was looking forward to comparing it with the version that you transcribed from The Bumblebees. I will always wonder...

I hadn't noticed that, Peter - what a scunner. Ah, The Bumblebees - one of my favourite groups.
