Mixter Maxter Mixed Instrument Workshop
Newburgh, Fife, October 29th 2011

A day of mixed instrument workshops where the group will learn some tunes and collaborate to arrange them in an interesting and attractive way. Suitable for most instruments, but if you play smallpipes, for example, you should have another more versatile instrument as well. The day will also feature a performance by the group, a short concert and a pub session to finish off the day.

Booking
Details on booking will be made known very soon, but if you wish to ask any questions, or if you wish to book your place, email Nigel and he will keep you informed.

Just a few places left on the Mixter Maxter day, so if you've been thinking about it, now's the time to make up your mind.

RE: Mixter-Maxter Mixed Instrument Workshops
Jock MacSporran asked about a problem playing certain notes on the mandolin, specifically if you have to play two notes one after the other which are on the same fret but on different strings. As this was asked about The Warlocks, one of the tunes we're doing at Mixter Maxter, I thought I'd record a video with my approach to the problem:

Hopefully it'll help the mandolin players out there (let me know).

RE: Mixter-Maxter Mixed Instrument Workshops
It was a great day and, I believe, a successful workshop. We ended up making some great music. There are photographs from the day on Picasa and some recordings of the outcome on Soundcloud.
