Music TOW#9: Cavehill
Cavehill

"The Cave Hill dominates the skyline on the northern edge of Belfast..." I don't know anything about this tune. I got it from Kerr's Merry melodies (c1875), and I think it's a really good jig. There is a rough MP3 of me playing on the whistle at www.nigelgatherer.com/tunes/tab/tab14/caveh.html

Hi Harry,
The link didn't work for me, I think it will only be of use to those people who use Googlemail or sign in to Google. YouTube is the better option as it's available to all.
Another great tune, will have a bash this weekend

Managed to open both links, H, but the Google Docs is probably only available to those with Google accounts or who are invited to view by the poster.
As a user of and poster on YouTube I find that I feel the need to build in visual content where often all we need is the tune; a quick mp3 is all that is required but then the camera has to come out and takes up a lot of time, etc.
Very nice playing with a lift and balance between mando and guitar and I echo Ursula's comments re your learner status!

Still can't see it Harry, you're better off using YouTube as it is accessible to all. I don't know what format you recorded in but if you download Any Video Convertor (Freeware) you can convert it into most formats and upload to YouTube.....
Will do mine on Sunday as I have to work tomorrow......Sacrilege!!!!

RE: TOW#9: Cavehill
That's great Harry, I can see and hear it now! Almost a Men At Work lilt to it! Must be the guitar and because it was recorded in Aus! That cliff looks a bit high to me! John I love the scenic shots you and Dave Hansen on the Cafe do, and I don't think it detracts from the music at all. It is a bit samey most of the time watching people play but you do get to see what instruments people are playing. There is nothing wrong with a bit of variation. When I get round to it I'll take the Zoom Q3 for a tour of the London sights and play some mando over the top. But not on a Scottish tune!!!!!!
I'll have a bash tomorrow, I've worked it out on the mandocello but I'll see if I'm brave enough tomorrow........
