Whistlefield Inn Sessions

For the past few years we have been having a monthly session (under the name of "Doon The Watter Folk", as in Down the Clyde from Glasgow, etc) on the first Friday of each month in the Whistlefield Inn which is on the shores of Loch Eck here in Cowal in Argyllshire, about 10 miles north of Dunoon on the A815. These sessions are very informal and friendly and offer the chance to play, sing or just listen. The evenings start around 8.30 and generally have been very well attended with a lot of people returning regularly from various parts of Scotland and beyond. The format is basically a round-the-room evening and people join in or not as the notion takes them. Some times there is even overspill into the bar from the dining room where the main events take place.

Music is very varied and anything goes, from country through pop and traditional, with guitar, mandolin, accordion, banjo, fiddle, concertina all featured, and at times we have had pipers there.

I remember a particularly happy holiday on the shores of Loch Eck in the early 1990s i it's a beautiful area, and I might try to come for the session one day. Best wishes for it anyway.
