Slow Session, Borough Hotel
What's happening? Is anybody interested in taking the bull by the horns and making sure there's a session, and letting everyone else ken? Are there any alternatives? What about Kirkliston? The Tass? The House Session? Speak your mind.
I got an email from Duncan suggesting the Castle Arms. He's offered to go in and ask. I'm sure there are enough people who'd want to play - as I'm not in Edinburgh I'm out of the picture till September. Nigel Gatherer Crieff, Perthshire |

Nigel and all, I believe a few people went to the Borough last Thursday and the management were very welcoming. I phoned yesterday and though the manager wasn't there the person I spoke to said that so far as she knew everything was fine for a session this Thursday (tomorrow, the 17th). So we may have enough momentum building for a continuation of the Slow Session at the Borough over the summer, as long as we are prepared to switch to Thursdays, say 8.30 to 10.30pm Last year we had quite a few well-attended Tuesday sessions in July and August at the Royal Ettrick Hotel: that would be an alternative we could explore again this year. But pending other options which might be able accommodate us on Wednesdays, I would suggest going for the Thursday evenings at the Borough. (For those for whom Wednesday is only possibility, there's always the Tass ... ) Alistair. PS For reference the Bar Manager at the Borough is Stewart Shearer, tel: 668 2255 |

RE: Slow Session, Borough Hotel
I called in at the Borough Hotel and spoke to the manager.
Everything's fine for this evening's session, and the diary looks to be clear on Thursdays for the rest of June and early July. Hoping to see lots there this evening, from 8.30 on. Alistair. |

RE: Slow Session, Borough Hotel
We had a small but very enjoyable session at the Borough yesterday evening.
The venue is available again next Thursday. However Ceilidh Caleerie have a gig that evening (24th June), and all but three of last night's participants will be playing at the gig. Also I will be out of Edinburgh next Thursday. However the option's there, and I hope a few more non-CC people may be attracted to come along on the 24th and build up the numbers. Alistair. |

RE: Slow Session, Borough Hotel
The CC gig is supposed to finish by 9.45. -10pm, and is not far from the Borough, so maybe some will want to go there afterward?

RE: Slow Session, Borough Hotel
I can make it; chances are Michelle the recorder player can too. But for both of us, early is better (she'll probably be packing up to go by the time the CC people arrive).

The suggested 8.30 start time is pretty arbitrary: I am pretty sure the room will be available from 7 or even earlier. |

RE: Slow Session, Borough Hotel
Did anyone go to the Borough last Thursday?
Is anyone planning to go this Thursday (1st July?) I will check availability just in case. Alistair. |

RE: Slow Session, Borough Hotel
Yes - not many of us but enough to make it happen.
