Music Scotland
I see the Music Scotland website is not working, have they bitten the dust?
It'd be a shame if they have. It's tough on small business at the moment. I have just received a DVD I ordered from them last week, so hopefully it was just a temporary problem with their web server. Certainly their web site ( http://www.musicscotland.co.uk/ ) seems to be working fine today. |

RE: Music Scotland
Hi Alistair,
If you click the link you gave it goes to a page saying there is no Website at this address. I get a page from Parallels Plesk Control Panel. It may well be they have changed servers as there are other pages that display the store but the MS avatar is missing from the pages. Hope it's nothing more than a temporary blip...... Anyway I have accessed http://www.musicscotland.co.uk/ with Firefox on both Mac Snow Leopard and Windows XP, and with Internet Explorer on Windows XP, and they all work fine. Or maybe there is an error in the name server your ISP uses, or you have a virus, or your security software thinks the site is suspicious. Anyway, it definitely works for me. |

RE: Music Scotland
Works okay for me on iCab 2.9.9 on MacOS 9 - which is both archaic and fussy as browsers go.
Looks like a much more professional job than Footstompin. Gives you a certain glow of confidence when somebody manages to portably encode pound and euro signs, which Footstompin have never achieved yet. I might actually trust MS's site with my credit card details. http://www.campin.me.uk |

RE: Music Scotland
I would guess that your name server is buggered and you've been sent to the wrong IP.
Try configuring your network connection to use a different DNS. http://www.campin.me.uk |

This is getting wildly off topic, but did you try http://www.musicscotland.co.uk instead of http://www.musicscotland.com ? And what has Parallels got to do with it: are you running a virtual machine inside Windows? What is Plesk? Sounds a bit like a firewall, or something similar. I use Parallels Desktop on my Mac and have Windows XP (and Ubuntu 9.10) installed on virtual machines. But as mentioned before these all have no problem in accessing the site. If you are using a virtual platform, maybe that's the source of problem: have you tried accessing from another (real) machine? |

RE: Music Scotland
Yeah it seems I have a problem with Firefox (which is my preferred browser) as it is fine in Explorer and Opera. I may reinstall Firefox and see if that solves it.....thanks for your help .....

Might be worth a try. Or you could switch to Google's Chrome ( http://www.google.co.uk/chrome ), though I'm not a fan myself. |
