Session 3/12/08
We have been offered the use of a basement in Newington, but so far I have not found out the address. Without this information, it would very much be a last-minute affair, with only invited guests. Maybe that's the way it has to be.

Thanks for setting this up Nigel: it will save on all those emails floating about. Will wait and see re Weds.

Lightbulb RE: Session 3/12/08
Hi Nigel,
It's great that you have set this up, and I hope it will become the standard place to discuss things connected with the slow session. Meantime though other channels, like the Google group, may need to be retained in parallel.
I will send you in due course a list of all those replying to the message I sent a few days ago asking if people wanted to be on an email list for news of Slow Session venues, and you can invite them to join this group.
Joining was not altogether straightforward, though the only hurdle which might prove difficult for some people was the coloured captcha (just wanted the opportunity to use this word, having just read about the technique in last week's Technology Guardian [ here ] ) which might be stymie anyone with colour blindness (10% of all males).
Anyway, to the point: I expect we will get the address soon from Diane, though I am not sure how widely she will want the invitation to be broadcast.
I hope to get confirmation tomorrow of the availability of the Meadow Bar for the 10th. I guess discussion of that should be in a separate thread.
[Aside: not sure why the embedded HTML, like the link inserted above, does not get correctly rendered on my browser …]
Anyway, hope this takes off in a big way!
Alistair.

RE: Session 3/12/08
Despite my earlier enthusiasm for this, I won't be venturing anywhere tonight, owing to the weather: well above the snow line in Balerno!
I tried to email Diane direct but it bounced: anyway thanks again for her offer, and hope you have a good session!

RE: Session 3/12/08
Snap I'm afraid. The pavements and roads around home are pretty lethal tonight and according to rainfall radar there's a huge nasty load of something coming our way (8.50p.m.). So I'll be missing it as well, I'm sorry to say, but hope that everyone who comes has a great time.

Eric

RE: Session 3/12/08
In the end, owing to weather and fifty five other legitimate reasons, there were only three of us there tonight: Diane (the host), Alistair and me. Still, we had a pleasant time playing some neglected tunes, such as "Thde Underwater Gardener" and "The Johntown Reel".

Let's hope next Wed at The Meadow Bar will be a riot.
