Fiddle Robin Williamson
Had the good fortune to see John Renbourne and Robin Williamson on Thursday night at the Half Moon in Putney. It was a great surprise when Robin Williamson played mandolin of a few of the numbers, really made my evening. He played mostly harp and played whistle on a few numbers as well. His playing really complemented John Renbourne's guitar and the fact they started with one of my favourites 'You Can't Keep From Crying Sometimes' (the Al Kooper song more known for Ten Years After's version) set the tone completely. A wide mix of material and a pleasure to watch. I'd definitely go and see them if they are in your area.

RE: Robin Williamson
I've always had a lot of time for Robin Williamson. I especially loved his work with The Merry Band; both the songs and instrumentals are great, and I have an ambition to arrange one of his pieces for my mandolin and guitar orchestra. When I get some time...

RE: Robin Williamson
Saw them again at the Half Moon Putney last night, a year on and still great. Robin played three numbers on the mandolin and was brilliant. Again the mainstay was his harp playing including a spooky version of Motorhead's 'Ace Of Spades' ! Robin was playing an A5 but I couldn't figure out the make. They do a nice version of The South Wind and Blarney Pilgrim. I couldn't find any clips of Robin's mandolin playing on YouTube which is a real shame but I found this of them doing 'Midnight On The Water' and the blues 'Goin' Down Slow' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wzs7ozaNq...re=related
