Banbury Bill
![]() I learned this from a Dave Swarbrick record, and I've always liked it. I think it's a Morris dance tune. Nigel Gatherer Crieff, Perthshire |

RE: TOW#10: Banbury Bill
Thanks Harry, don't know how I managed to fit it in as the last 3 weeks have been mental with work. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up with a few things now over on the Cafe but some of it is beyond me!!! I've played less in the last 3 weeks and need to play as it gets a bit frustrating sometimes. If I ever feel this way I head straight for Nigel's tunes and it's like a tonic, it gets you going again!

Hi all - I know this TOW was a while ago but it's one I love, and as a new member it's my first opportunity to contribute to the forum! Here's my rendition - https://soundcloud.com/landyrover/banbury-bill

RE: TOW#10: Banbury Bill
Hi Nick,
Interesting choice of instruments - especially the electric mandolin. I like your three instruments together and the tone from the electric is rather intriguing. It will be interesting to hear how some of the other regulars react to the electric element of your arrangement. Looking forward to more from you. JK Mandolins - Handcrafted in Argyll, Scotland. |

The latter is only a guide, after all, and a snap shot in time. The electric mandolin(I thought it was a guitar at first) is enjoyable too and it reminds me of Richard Thompson's work on his "Strict Tempo" album http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strict_Tempo! “Don’t believe everything you read on the internet just because there’s a picture with a quote next to it.”

RE: TOW#10: Banbury Bill
Thanks very much both for your encouraging comments! I have ordered the Richard Thompson CD from Amazon and with any luck it will arrive tomorrow. I'm pleased the inclusion of an electric mandolin (4 stringed variety) is acceptable alongside its accoustic cousins!
