The Wednesday Slow Session
I'm going to ask Bennett's if the session can go back there. The manager has still to come back to me, but if he says yes, I think it's a good solution. If he says no, we need to put our thinking caps on again and start looking.
Anyone been to The Borough recently? Nigel Gatherer Crieff, Perthshire |

Have missed the last two Thursdays at The Borough. Alistair. |

RE: The Wednesday Slow Session
I have been to the Borough late on the last 2 Thursdays after other things. Numbers have been small but I gather the sessions have been good. I like the Borough, but if we can't have Wednesdays, we need somewhere on that night.
Bennet's is handier for Boroughmuir, so it would be good if we could get back there, but hopefully have some agreement about where football figures in their thinking! It was interesting to note that during our week of Gilbert and Sullivan in the King's Theatre in March (when we went to Bennet's for after-show refreshment!!) the Green Room was closed every night except at the weekend, so as the barman - who recognised me from the sessions - said to me "We've missed your custom". I did indicate (as politely as I could muster) that we needed a venue we could rely on! |

RE: The Wednesday Slow Session
I have contacted the manager of the Waterloo Bar and he seems quite keen on the session taking place there. What do others think of this? And I will contact the Greenmantle pub to see if is possible if it can take place there. Just suggestions

Just suggestions I went to see the manger of the Waterloo and is quite keen for us to go there but I have to contact him tomorrow so Nigel, is you are reading this please contact me on 07763494659 if you want to go on with this or not. I also enquired at the Greenmantle but it does not look hopeful as something else maybe is on a Wednesday night, but I will speak to the manager, but please contact me as the Waterloo option is limited. If anyone knows Nigel's mobile number or landline number could you please post it as I need to speak to him urgently about the slow session venue. |

RE: The Wednesday Slow Session
I doubt the Greenmantle could work, they are far too busy with other events already and don't have a separate room.
Was there a problem with the Meadow Bar upstairs? Carters in Haymarket/Tollcross? http://www.campin.me.uk |

RE: The Wednesday Slow Session
Yes Jack, the Greenmantle was a no go, but the manger of the Waterloo Bar is very keen to have us, which is why I want to get in touch with Nigel to see what he thinks it may be a possibility..

We had a few sessions in the Meadow Upstairs a couple of years ago, and it worked very well. I would certainly be keen to go back there, though it's still not walkable from Boroughmuir of course. The only potential problem as I recall is that the room is bookable for private parties, and this would have priority over the slow session. Alistair. |

RE: The Wednesday Slow Session
I've been depressed for a few days, so I simply haven't been able to follow up a venue for the session. The Manager of Bennet's didn't get back to me, and I didn't get back to Brian about the Waterloo (sorry Brian). Where's the Waterloo?

RE: The Wednesday Slow Session
The Waterloo is in Waterloo Place.
I asked in Cloisters (Brougham Place) today, no go there. http://www.campin.me.uk |
