By Dundas Loch is a beautiful slow air composed by Phil Cunningham and recorded on Phil and Aly Bain’s 2002 CD “Portrait”. Dundas Loch is in the grounds of Dundas Castle, an early 19th century baronial mansion near South Queensferry, Fife.

This is a lovely tune, Nigel. I am really determined to have a go at it next! Thanks too for the mp3. Will post my attempt to SoundCloud whenever I have it ready for consumption.

Thanks so much for posting that: heard Phil and Aly play it at Linlithgow Festival main concert this year, and thought then 'must get that tune"! I believe Phil lives quite near the title place, and told a very funny story about it. Will have to learn it for the Kirkliston sessions just along the road from there! I'll add my thanks to Nigel, as expressed by John Kelly.

Let me know what changes you would make to the chords, Trish. Although I'm a lot better than I used to be, fitting chords to tunes is still a challenge.

Sounds pretty good as it is: wasn't sure of those were yours or Phil's: one or 2 I might modify, but I'll send you them you off forum.
Incidentally I did ask Phil when he was at Linlithgow if he had any plans for another tune-book as he's written so many good ones SINCE "The House in Rose Valley" book (which is very hard to get now!). He said no, but was considering having an area on his website where folk could pay to download sheet music for his tunes. Other musicians, including Jez Lowe, are already doing this.
Just makes us appreciate your website tunes resource all the more!

P.S. Playing around doing some of that recording "nonsense" tonight, so here 'tis (spot the chord changes - not many!)

Hi Trish, Have taken a leaf out of your book and been doing some "recording nonsense" today. Have mailed you an mp3 made from your piano recording and adding in mandolin and octave guitar. If you approve, we could put it on general release via SoundCloud. Smile

I'm fine Nigel, the doc (who was Scottish) said I had to keep moving it to prevent a frozen shoulder (which I've had in the past in the same shoulder). I am just happy I didn't break anything because at first I was convinced I had.
John, nothing as exciting I'm afraid, was running after a bus after work and lost my footing, I flew and landed straight on my shoulder and bounced along. This was a week ago now and the shoulder is getting stronger everyday although there are periods of soreness.
That was really great what you and Trish did, loved it.......
