The Harmonica - Alcluith - 12-01-2020

As soon as I seen this I thought of Drifter.

So this one is for him.

Hope Nigel Doesn't mind me posting this here.

Thanks Alcluith,  I have never heard this tune before and could not find anyone playing it on the net.  The music does not say what the tempo is but I suspect that it is about 100 to 120 BPM.  I could probably manage 100 but I think 120 would be pushing it for me.  Another problem with 6/8 tunes is that I can't use Band in a Box to make a backing track.  I transposed it into C which is easier for me and will try to get it up to speed.

Lovely played. I had never heard to before either but Nigel has the knack of finding some catchy tunes.
If you look under the  SMG Slow sesssion class at right of his home page you will get his whistle mp3.

cheers

RE: The Harmonica - Drifter - 17-01-2020

I think Nigel played the tune at about 80 BPM. If my maths are correct I think that converts to "crotchet = 120". (Don't know how to make a crotchet!) (80 x 3/2). I am not sure if that is the correct way to write the tempo.

RE: The Harmonica - Drifter - 19-01-2020

i have now learned how to notate tempo! It seems that you can put a metronome mark of a dotted crotchet = 80 which, in 6/8 time gives 2 beats per bar! However I use Reaper to make my recordings and I don't think it can cope with dotted crotchets. In reaper, if the piece is in 6/8 time then it will count 6 beats in the bar but he BPM will be measured in crotchets which is quite confusing.
