Roses of No Man's Land
This tune is marked as a "Slow Air". Could someone tell me what speed that should be in BPM I am playing it at 100 bpm but I think that is probably too fast. (although I think it sounds quite good at that speed)
Hello, Drifter. I have not found a recording of this tune, but have had a look at the music on Nigel's site here and I would suggest a speed of about 80, but it is a variable thing and you will no doubt get other suggestions as to the best speed. You have the right idea when you say it sounds quite good at your chosen 100 bpm. Try a few and then decide which is your personal choice!
Hi Drifter, sorry for not replying earlier to your posting. I have not been on the site regularly over past few weeks. Your recording sounds very good and the tempo certainly suits the tune. There is a haunting quality to it, and the rhythmic tapping of your foot (?) seems not at all out of place.
Have you thought of contacting the composer and getting his opinion? One of my favourite tunes at present is Blair's "Kate Martin's Waltz".

Hi John, I used Band in a Box for the backing so that must be the foot tapping you are hearing (I hope) I am guilty of foot tapping but hope it is not heard in the recording but, I am a bit deaf' so you may well hear things differently.
No, I don't think I would like to bother the composer with my efforts. Thank you for drawing "Kate Martin's" to my attention. I will certainly try it but it looks a bit more challenging.
