Scotsman Over the Border

This is a traditional Irish jig, but it has its roots in a Scottish tune,
Over the Border or
All the Blue Bonnets. I first heard it in The Green Tree session in Edinburgh (now long defunct), and I went home a learnt it from, I think, a great session album called
Music at Matt Molloy’s.
A very cheerful tune, I'll learn it.

It is a very nice tune. Your decoration on it is splendid. It really gives a special mood to the tune. Technically I know how to make the decoration, but still, the tempo goes to fast for me, so that I cannot identify them. May I ask you to give their position, please ?

ok, I put the song into windows media player and lowered the speed, so that I can play it with you. But still, it is hard to identify the decoration. I have a bad ear I guess.

I really enjoy "Scotsman over the border". My pinky was very weak, but thanks to this tune, it is getting stronger.
As jigs are more difficult than reels, I should have begun with "Partans in the creel", which is also remarkable for training the pinky.

I train every day on that beautiful tune ! It gives me a lot of pleasure. I continue to improve my speed until I will add the decoration. Thank you. It is a kind of present.
I like this tune, but it's so similar to one I've known for years, The Carraroe Jig. With similar tune pairs I can usually only keep one in my head at a time!
