Only 4 weeks to go now until we start this, our 13th festival, which will be, as they always say, "the best ever". The headline act this year is Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain, at Linlithgow Academy on Sat 10th, and tickets are selling very fast for this.
Nigel is kindly doing one of the Saturday workshops at 12.30. - mixed instrument, with an emphasis on Old Time and Bluegrass tunes. It is followed by a workshop taken by members of local Old Time band, The Dapper McDans, who will give their best tips on how to play in a band, and a chance to play along with them. Workshop places can be booked (pay on day) by emailing lffaworkshops@hotmail.co.uk
We are also delighted that there will be a return visit of EMGO, who were well received when they last played 2 years ago for the 11th festival. They are on at 1.20. on the Sunday in the Masonic Hall.
Full details on the website: http://www.linlithgowfolk.com and we now (as of yesterday!) have a Facebook group.

"Friendly Folk in Linlithgow"...... That's not what they say in Bo'ness.
Big Grin
We have some very nice people from Bo'ness among our players and supporters, and so far, it seems peaceful co-existence is possible!

There are still places available for the workshops, and there is also a beginners' whistle workshop at 10.30. on Saturday 10th: same email to book for that.
I have added a description of my workshop at Linlithgow next week to my website on this page, and you can download music for the tunes I'm going to do.
Ach, the hillbilly stuff always goes down well "through the West".
Smile
Nigel, that's brilliant!
I'll send the details to all those who have registered so far and anyone who does so later, and encourage them to print their own music.
There are still places available for anyone who's swithering!
It says that my workshop will particularly suit fiddles, mandolins, etc, but not exclusively. We already have an accordionist coming...
I've printed off the tunes and I may or may not come...

OK JAJ, I may or may not see you there.
OK JAJ, I may or may not see you there.
Thanks again for doing it Nigel, and for the EMGO slot on the Sunday.
Think we'll have to go bigger again for workshop venue next year as there were 19 there, and almost as many at the Dapper McDans' workshop!
I was going to join you, but the accordion was already out in the hallway!
