Those of you who have been following the Alison Stephens thread will know that in recent years she has had two exceptionally talented students graduate with First Class Honours from Trinity College, London under her tutelage, namely Chris Aquavella and Travis Finch. Both combined to provide stunning performances in the recent Memorial Concert to her. Although Chris lives in San Diego, the LGMA were very fortunate in being able to attract him to East Kilbride to present a brilliant two-hour workshop on right-hand technique (including an introduction to duo style and cross-string arpeggio technique), and a great concert in which he introduced pieces from composers that do not usually feature in the concert repertoire. I am mentioning this here, since he may well return to the UK to present other workshops and concerts, and if you have the opportunity to attend any of these you will certainly gain a great deal from them, regardless of whether your preferred genre is classical, Celtic, bluegrass, etc. I should add that he has just started to give lessons on Skype, should you be interested in investigating this mode of learning.
