As well as running his classes and Slow Session, etc., Nigel is also Musical Director of EMGO, the Edinburgh Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra - which features elsewhere on this forum. Many of its current members came through his classes, and these continue to provide a major source of new members. Folks who wish to join EMGO, and thereby enlarge their overall musical experience, but who have little experience of how an orchestra works might therefore be interested in forthcoming workshops run by LGMA (http://www.mandolinscotland.org ):
Wed 11th, 18th & 25th August 2010 "Come and Try the Orchestra"
Learn orchestra basics and two pieces of orchestra music (parts to suit ability), and meet current orchestra members over coffee.
* 11th - Orientation. The seating of our orchestra, the basics of how to follow a conductor, how to count bars and find certain places in the music.
* 18th - Dynamics. How to play them and how to write them down.
