In case she's too modest to mention this

, congratulations are due to our own Anne Renshaw who was runner up in the EFC Song Competition with her song "The Tunnel at Penmanshiel".
Thanks very much JAJ! No-one was more surprised than me, in fact I wish I could remember the judges' comments. I didn't really take them in as no way did I think they'd be talking about my song.
Many congrats to the other prizewinners. Chris Rogers was a very worthy winner with 'From Bellshill to Barcelona' - great song. Really pleased too that Tom Clelland's 'The Robin and the Hawk' shared the audience vote. He had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen to the poor wee birdie!
If anyone would like to know more about the Penmanshiel Tunnel collapse, Wikipedia (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penmanshiel_Tunnel) have a good account of it. I can remember when it happened and an ex-cop 'folkie' friend of mine remembers being sent to the scene to help deal with a bit of local unrest. Must drive down this summer and take a look at the memorial - all very sad.
I've got the song on MP3 and on a wee amateur CD if anyone wants a listen.
Just checked my Wikipedia link and it doesn't seem to work. Must have done something wrong. If you Google Penmanshiel Tunnel though it should come up and there are several other sites that mention it too.
It's the final bracket which seems to have become part of the link. If you remove this, the link will work fine.
Congratulations, Anne - a veritable achievement.
Well done Anne! I knew it was in with a very high chance of success!
I heard the Balerno crowd enjoyed your set at their last gig too.
Hoping to hear the Barcelona song tonight at EFC: me, I was busy researching Barcelona, Alcossebre, Granada, Cordoba, Malaga. etc!
Ta Trish, ta Nigel. I hear Ceilidh Caleerie's trip to Spain was a big success. Well done! Sangstream - Italy, Ceilidh Caleerie - Spain, EMGO - sunny Birmingham (!) in the offing. Wonder if Scott could find Linten Adie a few gigs in some interesting places...........................??? No disrespect to Pollock Halls mind you!
Myles Lobjoie has written a very good report on the trip to Spain, which is on the SMG website, and there was a book going around for everyone to write their comments in. There is more than a chance that we may get invited back!
Now while I was in Linten Adie, we did have not one, but two trips to the exotic city of Dundee, and that magical weekend in Skelmorlie!
